Abeystwyth is a vibrant seaside town on the West Wales coast that blends Victorian charm with a lively Aberystwyth University atmosphere. From historic ruins to mountain-climbing trails, here are the top five things you shouldn't miss

1.    Constitution Hill & Cliff RailwayTake the Victorian funicular (the longest in Britain) to the summit. The view from the top is the best in town, and the Camera Obscura provides a fascinating 360-degree interactive look at the coastline [1, 2].

2.    The Promenade & "Kicking the Bar"Walk the mile-long Victorian seafront. It is a local tradition to walk to the very north end (under Constitution Hill) and kick the white iron railings before turning back. In winter at sunset, look out for the famous starling murmurations under the Pier [2, 3].

3.    National Library of WalesEven if you aren't a bookworm, the building itself is majestic. It sits high above the town and offers free art exhibitions, a cinema, and some of the most significant Welsh historical treasures [3, 4].

4.    Aberystwyth Castle RuinsWander through these 13th-century ruins right on the water's edge. It’s a great spot for a picnic or a sunset photo, and it connects the North and South beaches [2, 3].

5.    Vale of Rheidol RailwayBoard a vintage steam train from the town centre for a scenic 12-mile journey through the Rheidol Valley. It ends at Devil's Bridge, where you can see three stacked bridges and a dramatic waterfall
